Visual Design
Several elements go into making a great design. Of these, the visual element has the greatest potential to connect with users at an emotional level. We see visual design as a great opportunity to not just attract users but also to keep them coming back. Our services help shape or amplify user’s perceptions of your product, service or brand.
Conceptual designs
We begin the concept stage with an open period of exploration, brainstorming, inventing and testing of the ideas. These ideas roll into a series of creative approaches to the interface design. Working flexibly with our clients, we turn the best concepts into design directions and final interface. We constantly reference the project goals and requirements to ensure that the design satisfies all criteria.
Visual system strategy & branding
Our team understands the importance of a business name and its value. Identifying primary typeface for brand name, secondary typeface for a punch line (if any), and studying color combinations from the corporate style guide to maintain its brand loyalty. YUJ designers mix, match, refine and rework designs based on client and user requirements. A visual design strategy is created for the product/application by the key placement of the logo, standard size and its variants, and graphic elements/metaphors that suit and enhance the product functions. The goal is to build a visual design strategy that is simple and legible, easy for reproduction; leaving a lasting impression. We keep focus on user’s perceptions, likes and dislikes throughout the visual design cycle. This is achieved through collecting data from users and stakeholders at the beginning of the project and conducting a brand perception test during the conceptual design stage.
Standards and Style Guides
If your organization has a suite of products and services aimed at similar users, you will do well to standardize their usability and design. In the long run, this helps build better recall and loyalty for your brand. Our generic standards and style guides cover usability and design guidelines, layout and presentation rules, description and operation of controls, internationalization and localization guides and checklists, to ensure globally accepted UX standards are met. While we can set up customized standards, user interface (UI) widgets, page templates and patterns, to achieve design consistency across products of your business.
Design patterns and page templates
A very common form of standard used today by many companies are the design patterns which serve as the DNA of interaction behavior of a software product. They cover most commonly performed user interactions. Another layer beneath design patterns is the development of UI widgets. Development teams can reap benefits of faster UI implementation if UI widgets are built based on design patterns. Page templates are an aggregation of design patterns and cover most commonly performed user tasks. They serve as a good communication mechanism between interaction designers and development teams about the layout, interaction behavior and visual specifications for a particular user task. One page template may contain one or more design patterns. Usually, page templates are built for 80-85% of the page types covering commonly performed user tasks. YUJ Designs has built over 50 standards for several of its customers.
Animation production graphics
During the detailed design phase, our team identifies all art assets required for integration of design into code, and creates final art files for each component. Deliverables include backgrounds, type specifications, icons, animations, and all UI related components. We hand over final templates and assets to the production team, and ensure that designs are implemented as envisioned by the supporting development team, until the launch of the product.
Icon design & illustrations
Beginning with capturing the characteristics of the object in sketches, generating clear and interesting metaphors for the icons, creating finished multi-scale icons; our team of designers create the final art files for each icon and illustration. By fleshing out a range of ideas with key stakeholders, we can develop a series of icons that fit the requirements and purpose. Our team believes in forward planning so we can conform to a defined set of proportions and dimensions, while still being unique and recognizable.
